Brainspotting

Brainspotting

“Where you look affects how you feel” is a phenomenon David Grand, Ph.D discovered in 2003. As the developer of Brainspotting, he found that by identifying points in one’s visual field, a “brainspot”, we can access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain (the earlier developed parts of our brain). Brainspotting helps to untangle some of the brain neural pathways affected during a traumatic event. We do this in Brainspotting by strategically utilizing the visual field to access neural processes and influence them.

The Brainspotting healing approach leans heavily into neuroscience and the beliefs that our body and brain know how to heal themselves. As a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner, I will stay attuned to you and your experience, serving as a guide as you process but also staying “in the tail of the comet” as we say in the Brainspotting community. What that means is I stay very present with you as we allow your brain and body to do what they know to do to process and clear out the trauma.

Brainspotting can be used with PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic, phobias, behavioral conditions along with performance and creativity enhancement.
