Resiliency Building

Most clients seek out therapy because they want to feel better, not just think differently. My goal is to help my clients feel better and think differently and that’s why resiliency building is a key component of my work with all of my clients. Resiliency building is about creating possibilities for your future, getting distance from situations that hold us back, creating space for new ideas, and creating hope for change.

Research in Neuroscience and the discovery of neuroplasticity reveal that our brains can change and grow. Maybe you’ve heard the saying, coined by Canadian neuropsychologist Donald Hebb, “Neurons That Fire Together Wire Together”. What this means is that as we develop and use these resiliency neural-circuits more and more we can strengthen the circuits so they are more readily available.

In our resiliency building work together I will help teach you ways to create and strengthen these new resiliency neural networks in the brain. I want you have a greater felt sense of control in a situation, ability to effect change in your life, courage to face challenges, greater connection to yourself and others, competency to do what you want to do and access more calm to weather life’s storms.
